Oceana Gold Corporation owns and operates the Macraes, Frasers and Globe Progress Gold Mines situated in the South Island of New Zealand. In 2009, the Company produced a record of over 300,000 ounces of gold from refractory ores sourced from one underground mine and a series of open pits. It has a policy of Zero Harm to people and a philosophy of continuous improvement. The Company has a reputation for operational innovation and environmental responsibility.
We are seeking a motivated Process Plant Manager to provide technical expertise and motivational leadership to ensure the process plant is safely maintained, operated and optimised to achieve maximum gold production. This key position will head up a small, dynamic and motivated team making key decisions on maintenance, production and the metallurgical operation of the processing plant. The primary objective of this role will be to optimise mill throughput, gold recovery and operational costs to meet or exceed budget performance.
This role will be based at our Globe Progress Operation, about 15 minutes drive from Reefton. Reefton is located on the West Coast and offers great recreational opportunities and a relaxed residential lifestyle, while being situated within easy reach of Greymouth and Westport, and a comfortable 3 hours drive to either Nelson or Christchurch. The surrounding districts offer a diverse range of sporting, cultural and recreational activities, with easy access to New Zealand’s famous mountains and lakes.
The successful applicant must possess:
- A degree in Metallurgy/Chemical/Process Engineering or equivalent.
- Practical knowledge of milling, flotation and dewatering circuits.
- Ability to balance safety, production and commercial issues
- perience with project development and metallurgical process operations.
- Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
- Ability to set goals and work effectively, either independently or as part of a team.
- Experience supervising and developing a team in a production based environment.
